A variable Renaissance book face revived from Griffo's roman for the Hypnerotomachia Poliphili, in nine weights with italics.
About
Cosmodoxia goes back to the Aldine roman of 1499: calm, low in contrast and gently angled, with the small x-height and long ascenders of a Venetian book. It runs on a variable weight axis from a hairline Thin to a dense Black, each with its own italic, so the same face can set a novel and a heavy title. Old-style figures come as standard.
Classification
Venetian-Aldine oldstyle revival drawn from the roman Francesco Griffo cut for Aldus Manutius and used in Hypnerotomachia Poliphili (1499). Low contrast, angled stress and small x-height, with a matching italic. Sold through the foundry's Gumroad; its own site still lists it as coming soon.
