serifrenaissance serifitalic
Holger specimen from WiseType

A crisp Flemish Renaissance serif by Otis Verhoeve, drawn from the types François Guyot cut in 16th-century Antwerp.

About

Holger began during Otis Verhoeve's studies at the Plantin-Moretus Archive in Antwerp, working from the surviving material of punchcutter François Guyot. It sits between text and display: enough weight and contrast to hold up small, with tall ascenders, cupped serifs and a sharp finish that suits titles. The italic carries an "All Flourished" set that gathers its swashes, ligatures and final forms in one switch.

Classification

A revival-minded Roman and italic based on the 16th-century types of Antwerp punchcutter François Guyot, with tall ascenders, cupped serifs and moderate stroke modulation, placing it in the Renaissance (Garalde) tradition.
