Ghost Display Mono specimen from Sharp Type

Ghost Display Mono is Sharp Type's fixed-width display cut of their humanist sans superfamily, designed for large-scale typesetting and coding contexts where character equality is needed without sacrificing warmth.

About

Ghost Display Mono is the monospaced, display-scale member of Sharp Type's Ghost Superfamily – a 72-style humanist sans built over four years and released in 2022. Rooted in the tradition of Johnston and Optima, Ghost carries warmth and historical depth while remaining functionally neutral; the Mono cut locks all glyphs to equal width, making it well suited to data, code, and editorial settings where rhythm and alignment matter. The superfamily spans a variable designspace with optical size and mono axes, allowing the Display Mono to sit within a coherent system stretching from headline proportional to small-text fixed-width.

Classification

Monospace display variant within the Ghost Superfamily, a humanist sans-serif with fixed-width spacing optimised for large-size and coding contexts. Part of a variable font designspace with optical size and mono axes. The broader superfamily spans proportional (Display, Text) and fixed-width (SemiMono, Mono) subfamilies, all sharing the same underlying humanist sans skeleton drawn in the tradition of Johnston and Optima.
