About
Ghost Display SemiMono is one of six subfamilies in the Ghost superfamily, which spans 72 styles across display and text optical sizes and three points on a mono axis. Its spacing is more uniform than the proportional Ghost Display but less rigid than Ghost Display Mono, making it useful wherever a degree of rhythmic consistency is wanted at large scale without sacrificing the warmth of humanist construction. Developed by Lucas Sharp with My-Lan Thuong, Léna Le Pommelet, and Daniel Veneklaas, the SemiMono subfamilies were introduced as part of the V.2 expansion in 2026.
Classification
Humanist sans-serif at display optical size with semi-monospaced spacing. Sits on the mono axis between the proportional Ghost Display and the fully monospaced Ghost Display Mono within a single variable designspace. Draws on Roman inscriptional lettering, Edward Johnston's 1916 typeface, and Hermann Zapf's Optima as historical references.
