An ultra-heavy fat Egyptian with pinhole counters and blunt slabs, by Ellmer Stefan, from the Pyte Legacy set born in Pyte's 2016 free font every Monday project.
About
Plinth is about as black as a slab serif gets: thick stems, squat slabs and counters squeezed to slits, so a line of it reads as solid mass with a crisp edge. It suits short, loud headlines and anything that needs to be seen across a room. A single style with an alternate Q and a slashed zero, part of Pyte Legacy, the overhauled pick of the 2016 weekly fonts that won Visuelt Gold in 2017 and made Typographica's Typefaces of 2016.
Classification
An ultra-heavy slab serif with tiny counters and thick bracketed slabs, after the fat Egyptians that followed the fat face in early 19th-century display printing.
