Kaboodle draws on the Clarendon form and historical wood type from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Montalbano first tried it with shadow and outline layers before deciding a real weight range would serve better, drawing the regular first and using it to build the rest. Four weights, Regular to Heavy, each carry an italic, with an unusually wide reach into Cyrillic, Greek and Vietnamese for a slab of this kind.
Classification
Drawn from the Clarendon form and 19th and early 20th century wood type. Montalbano dropped an early idea for layered shadow and outline versions in favour of building out a proper weight range instead. Recategorised here as slab rather than the original brief's Script label; Clarendon is a textbook slab-serif model, and nothing in the design is script-like.
