A broad, sturdy slab serif with wide round capitals, by Ellmer Stefan, one of six Pyte Legacy display faces revived from Pyte's 2016 free font every Monday project.
About
Houdini spreads its capitals wide and sets them on firm bracketed slabs, with an even, moderate weight that recalls the expanded Egyptians of Victorian posters and wood type. It is the calmest of the set and holds up in short lines as well as single words. A single style with a slashed zero, part of Pyte Legacy, the overhauled pick of the 2016 weekly fonts that won Visuelt Gold in 2017 and made Typographica's Typefaces of 2016.
Classification
A broad, low-contrast slab serif with bracketed slabs and wide round forms, in the line of the expanded Egyptians and French Clarendons of 19th-century jobbing type.
