A running text grotesque synthesised from Monotype Grotesque series 215, 216 and 126, Bauer Venus and Bitstream's Gothic 720, first used in the foundry's own Revue Diorama publication.
About
Drawing on Frank Hinman Pierpont's Monotype Grotesque designs from the 1920s alongside Bauer's Venus (1907) and the early digital revival Gothic 720 (Bitstream, 1993), Diorama Gothic assembles a lineage of pre-modernist sans-serif models into a contemporary text face. The family includes at least Thin, Light and Book weights, each sold individually. Its origins in editorial use for Revue Diorama gave the design a practical text-setting brief from the outset.
Classification
A running text grotesque drawing on early sans-serif sources including Monotype Grotesque series 215, 216 and 126, Bauer Venus (1907) and Bitstream's Gothic 720 (1993), placing it firmly in the nineteenth and early twentieth century European grotesque tradition.
