Where earlier interpretations such as ITC Franklin Gothic compressed the family's proportions, ATF Franklin Gothic opts for wider, more open text weights that perform well at small sizes and on screen. Mark Van Bronkhorst used Benton's Monotone Gothic as a model for the lighter styles, maintaining stroke contrast and the warmth of the original while tuning the family for contemporary use. The 18-font family includes a Latin-extended character set and a full suite of OpenType features.
