BTC Project MKUltra specimen from Bad Type Club

A single-weight display typeface built around deliberately fragmented, near-illegible letterforms that evoke redacted documents and covert communications.

About

Designed by Matt Scott Barnes and first released in January 2019, the typeface takes its cues from the censored and encrypted aesthetic of classified government files. Abstract, distorted character forms undermine conventional readability in favour of atmosphere, making it suited to projects with a dark or conspiratorial visual identity. At one weight, it is a narrow stylistic tool rather than a workhorse.

Classification

An abstract, deliberately illegible display typeface with cryptic, fragmented letterforms that prioritise aesthetic effect over conventional readability. Its distorted character construction places it firmly in the experimental display category.
