MegaMegaTypeType
A single-weight experimental display face by Johanna Arrieta, designed in 2022 and inspired by the surrealist painter Remedios Varo, with letterforms that appear to melt, collapse and shiver as if seen through water.
About
The 153-glyph character set covers uppercase and lowercase Latin with a full complement of diacritics, numerals and punctuation. Letterforms are deliberately destabilised – stems dissolve, arches sag and contours waver – producing a visual language rooted in surrealist imagery rather than conventional typographic structure. Suited to editorial headlines, album artwork or any context where legibility can be traded for expressive atmosphere.
Classification
A single-weight experimental display face with heavily distorted letterforms – melting stems, collapsing arches and shivering shapes – that place it firmly in the display category with no conventional text use.
