Albra specimen from Rellence

A high-contrast editorial serif with a full optical-size system and grotesque companion, built for fashion, branding and editorial work.

About

Albra is a contemporary serif built around three optical sizes – Text, standard and Display – each calibrated for its intended size range, with Albra Book adding a fourth editorial cut without italics. Jan Weidemüller extended the system with Albra Sans and Albra Grotesk, giving designers a coherent mixed-voice toolkit from a single design source. Sharp bracketed serifs, high contrast and warm curves make the family well suited to fashion editorial, packaging and brand identity work.

Classification

Contemporary high-contrast serif with bracketed serifs and a full optical-size range spanning Text, standard and Display cuts. Draws on modern/Didone traditions but softens the historical model with warmer curves and less extreme stroke contrast. Extended system includes grotesque (Albra Grotesk) and sans (Albra Sans) companions, making it one of the more complete retail serif families from an independent foundry. Variable font versions available across the range.
