Hermann Zapf's 1979 chancery script for ITC, expanded at ParaType in 2012 with a Cyrillic cut, ligatures, alternates and old-style figures.
About
Originally designed for the International Typeface Corporation by Hermann Zapf, the design draws on the handwritten letterforms of Italian Renaissance papal scribes. The Cyrillic version was developed at ParaType in 1993 by Vladimir Yefimov with the participation of Gennady Baryshnikov, and a revised OpenType release followed in 2012 adding ligatures, alternates, swashes and old-style figures. It is suited to invitations, certificates, greeting cards and display advertising.
Classification
A formal calligraphic script rooted in Italian Renaissance chancery handwriting, with strong pen-drawn strokes and humanist proportions characteristic of the Italic style developed by papal scribes.
