LH Toast Italic specimen from Léon Hugues

The disconnected editorial variant of LH Toast, trading flowing joins for standalone calligraphic letterforms.

About

LH Toast Italic separates the continuous flow of LH Toast Script into individual letterforms while keeping the same calligraphic proportions, contrast and swash vocabulary. The result is calmer and more editorial – suited to layouts that need calligraphic energy without the formality of connected script. Available in the same 10 weights from Thin to Massive.

Classification

The disconnected counterpart to LH Toast Script. Though labelled Italic, it functions as a standalone calligraphic display typeface with separated letterforms rather than a traditional roman-with-italic pairing. High contrast and swash features remain consistent with the Script variant; the disconnected joins produce a calmer, more editorial voice.
