A monoline Art Nouveau sans serif originally designed for ITC in 1979, distinguished by rounded stroke endings and a Cyrillic extension developed at ParaType in 1994–97.
About
Designed by Edward Benguiat for the International Typeface Corporation, ITC Benguiat Gothic draws from Art Nouveau lettering and its companion serif face, ITC Benguiat (1977). The monoline construction and rounded terminals give it a softness suited to advertising and display use. The Cyrillic version was later developed by Alexander Tarbeev at ParaType between 1994 and 1997.
Classification
A monoline sans serif with rounded stroke endings derived from Art Nouveau lettering traditions. The absence of stroke contrast and the soft, rounded terminals distinguish it from conventional grotesque or geometric sans families.
