A Bitstream digitisation of Gill Sans extended with Cyrillic support, rereleased by ParaType in 2013 with old-style figures and alternate numerals added to the non-Latin version.
About
Based on Eric Gill's 1928–1930 typeface, itself derived from Edward Johnston's London Underground lettering of 1916, this digitisation spans eight styles from Light to Ultra Bold with matching italics. The Cyrillic Ultra Bold was drawn by Tagir Safayev in 1997, with the remaining six Cyrillic weights developed by Vladimir Yefimov and Isabella Chaeva, who also added old-style figures and an alternate numeral 1 for the non-Latin version. The classical old-style proportions that distinguish Gill Sans from more geometric contemporaries are preserved throughout.
Classification
A digitisation of Gill Sans, itself a humanist sans-serif rooted in Edward Johnston's 1916 London Underground letterforms. The design retains classical old-style proportions and handwritten origins that place it firmly in the humanist sans tradition.
