A Granby-inspired sans with round bowls, sharp apexes and a few flashes of attitude.
About
Motley starts from Stephenson Blake's Granby and the humanist sans of the early 1900s, then heads off on its own. Circular bowls give it a geometric calm that its pointed apexes keep interrupting. The heavy weights are tight for display, the light ones looser for reading, and a stylistic set swaps in gentler alternates.
Classification
Early 20th-century humanist sans that began as a revival of Stephenson Blake's Granby, with optically circular bowls, sharp apexes and mixed straight and angled terminals. Seven weights from Thin to Heavy; Stylistic Set 01 softens the apexes, plus single-storey a and g. No italics.
