A Bitstream rendering of Akzidenz-Grotesk extended with a Cyrillic character set developed by Tagir Safayev for ParaType in 2002, available in Bold and Black weights only.
About
Gothic 725 derives from H. Berthold's Akzidenz-Grotesk of 1898, one of the earliest and most influential grotesque sans-serifs, widely associated with Swiss typography of the mid-twentieth century. The ParaType release adds a Cyrillic extension designed by Tagir Safayev, broadening the family's utility for Russian and related languages. Only two weights are offered – Bold and Black – making this a limited but functional cut for headline and display work.
Classification
A Bitstream adaptation of Akzidenz-Grotesk, the archetypal nineteenth-century German grotesque sans-serif. The Cyrillic extension places it firmly in the grotesque tradition with traditional, upright letterforms and low stroke contrast.
