Designed by Reza Bakhtiarifard and released in 2023, Abar spans ten weights from Thin to ExtraBlack across three contrast variants – Low, Mid and High – giving the family broad typographic range. The design takes cues from Muhaqqaq script, with elongated bowls and heels lending it a formal, composed character. It supports Persian, Arabic, Urdu, Kurdish and Jawi alongside Latin, and includes tabular numerals, currency symbols for Rial, Toman, Saudi Riyal and UAE Dirham, ligatures and stylistic alternates.
