About

KTF Roman grows out of the free KTF Metro Roman, itself drawn from 1960s Red Line station lettering and Kyivmetroprojekt's technical drawings. Anfalov and Kovalenko gave the flat original its volume back through Outline, Shadow, BlackWhite and Color styles. A long ligature set borrows joined constructions from engraved plaques and tombstones.

Classification

Classical roman capitals with short serifs, but the family is built around three-dimensional effect styles (Outline, Shadow, BlackWhite, Color) and a large ligature set, which makes it a display face rather than a text serif.
