serifNaskh
Waha specimen from Iwan Type

A seven-weight Arabic Naskh typeface drawing on the decorative lettering style of vintage Arabic advertising from the 1970s and 1980s, paired with Latin support.

About

Waha balances classical Arabic calligraphic tradition with a refined display character, referencing the high-contrast hand-lettered scripts found on luxury consumer products and print advertising across the Arab world several decades ago. The family includes OpenType features such as swash alternates, a reduced-descender yaa, and composite ligatures to improve text harmony. It also supports automatic substitution of Saudi and Omani riyal symbols via shorthand triggers.

Classification

Waha is an Arabic Naskh-style typeface with high contrast, drawing on the aesthetic of vintage Arabic advertising lettering from the 1970s and 1980s. Its extended strokes and refined detail place it firmly within the calligraphic Naskh tradition adapted for contemporary display use.
