About
Hakaza reconstructs letterforms from Iranian print culture of the 1970s, preserving the warmth of hot-metal composition while recalibrating spacing, counter balance and punctuation for contemporary setting. The Regular weight was released first, with the Bold following two years later after demand from designers and publishers made the need clear. Both weights perform well at small sizes on absorbent paper stocks, resisting ink fill-in without sacrificing legibility at display scales.
Classification
A Naskh-style Arabic/Persian typeface revived from Iranian periodicals of the 1970s, originally produced on Linotype typesetting machines. Naskh is the dominant script classification for this style of connected Arabic letterforms suited to body text.
