A four-weight Arabic typeface reviving a lost headline font art-directed by Egyptian designer Muhyeddine Al-Labbad for a UNESCO publication in the late 1990s, now extended to cover Arabic, Farsi and Latin.
About
The design draws on Al-Labbad's typographic experiment for the Kitab fi Jareeda publication, hybridising Naskh and Kufi al-Masahif calligraphic traditions into a form that works across headlines and body text. The family was developed with a fully functional character set for Arabic and Farsi, alongside a matching Latin companion in all four weights. Prior to its public release, it served as the headline and pull-quote typeface for the Lebanese newspaper Al-Itihad from 2017 to 2019, where print-specific refinements were made.
Classification
An Arabic typeface blending the Naskh calligraphic style with Kufi al-Masahif, producing a hybrid letterform suited to both display and text use. A matching Latin accompanies the Arabic and Farsi scripts.
