Lyon Arabic specimen from Morcos Key

A Naskh-based Arabic typeface family designed by Khajag Apelian and Wael Morcos as a companion to Kai Bernau's Lyon, available in Text and Display cuts with a Slanted variation.

About

Designed to translate the Naskh script's calligraphic characteristics into a typographic context, Lyon Arabic is suited to long-form editorial and book setting. The family pairs with Commercial Type's Lyon, one of the earliest typefaces in that library, extending its principles into Arabic. Text and Display optical sizes are joined by a Slanted variant that provides an alternative texture without departing from the underlying design concept.

Classification

A Naskh-script Arabic typeface designed as a companion to Kai Bernau's Lyon, a transitional serif. The Arabic adapts Naskh calligraphic conventions to a typographic framework suited to editorial and book setting.
