A neo-grotesque with a geometric skeleton, Aeonik spans eight weights with italics across five subfamilies – Condensed, Extended, Soft, Fono and Mono – with script coverage running to over 340 languages.

About

Designed by Mark Bloom and Joe Leadbeater and first released in 2018, Aeonik applies a geometric skeleton to the Swiss grotesque tradition, with perpendicular terminals and circular bowls in tension. The family runs across five subfamilies – Soft, Condensed, Extended, Fono and Mono – each sharing the same eight-weight spine from Air to Black, with italics throughout. A 2025 expansion added Arabic, Hebrew, Thai and Hangul, bringing total script coverage to over 340 languages.

Classification

Neo-grotesque built on a geometric skeleton. Perpendicular terminals and closed apertures give it structural rigidity, tempered by circular bowls that soften the overall impression. Sits between the Swiss grotesque tradition and geometric sans territory – disciplined but not cold. Strong typographic texture at small sizes; expressive at display scale.
