About
Schism Three is the final member of the Schism trio, with the thickest hairline stroke of the three. The progressive increase in thin-stroke weight from Schism One to Three – normally a technical parameter called grading – is here used as the design's organising idea. Schism Three sits closest to grotesque in character, but retains the incised connections at curves and verticals that run through all three members of the family.
Classification
Low-contrast modulated sans-serif, the heaviest-hairlined of the three Schism sub-families. The progressive thickening of the thin stroke from Schism One through Three is a grading device used here as a deliberate design variable. Schism Three approaches grotesque territory while retaining incised connections at curves and verticals.
