Alex Lescieux · Alex Lescieux · 2020

sans-serifgrotesqueitalic
AL Linea specimen from Alex Lescieux

A revival of Linea, Umberto Fenocchio's grotesque for the Fonderia Tipografica Cooperativa, 1966–69.

About

Linea is an early blend of Univers and Neue Haas Grotesk, made well before Unica. The bold has Univers's boxy rounds and the regular the gentler contrast of Haas Grotesk. Look for the hybrid a, the Univers K, a narrow J and a flat-tailed Q, plus alternates for a, G and R. Four weights with italics.

Classification

A late-1960s Italian grotesque that sits between Univers and Neue Haas Grotesk: boxy rounds in the bold, lower contrast in the regular, condensed figures.
