TINY specimen from Velvetyne

A variable dot-matrix monospace modelled on a textile printer's smallest type size, originally built for a Chinatown pop-up shop.

About

TINY began as the visual identity for an experimental pop-up shop in New York's Chinatown, its dot-based letterforms lifted from the smallest size setting of a HandJet EBS-250 textile printer. Jack Halten Fahnestock built a variable size axis that scales dot size across fifteen instances, backed by six stylistic sets, small caps, fractions and roman numerals across a set of more than 1,300 glyphs.

Classification

Modelled on the smallest type size of a HandJet EBS-250 textile printer, with a variable size axis controlling dot size across a wide range of instances. Six stylistic sets, small caps, fractions and roman numerals extend a punch-card-flavoured base.
