Whirly Birdie
Ursa Minor · Alex Tomlinson · 2020

A variable display face inspired by 1950s American advertising, equally at home on a cereal box or a candle label.
About
Whirly Birdie's weight, width and italic axes move it between a chunky, narrow poster face and a wide, friendly package label without changing character. It ships alongside Whirlybats, a companion dingbat set that uses the same variable technology to animate over 200 glyphs rather than resize them. Sold as a standalone variable font through its own dedicated site.
Classification
Bold, rounded forms drawn from 1950s American advertising and packaging place Whirly Birdie in the display category, with a variable width and weight range built for that era's poster and packaging lettering.
