Savate

Plomb Type · Max Esnée & Emma Marichal · 2025

displaywide soft sansitalic
Savate specimen from Plomb Type

A wide, bouncy display sans named after French kickboxing, with real punch at the heavy end.

About

Savate takes its name from the French art of kickboxing and fights like it: wide, rounded letters with soft corners and stubby terminals that land hard in the heavier weights. Extralight to Black with italics and variable fonts gives it a light, friendly side for signage and a loud one for posters and packaging. Plenty of character, very little restraint.

Classification

A wide, bouncy display sans with softened corners, round counters and short, punchy terminals. Eight weights from Extralight to Black with italics; the heavy end leans towards cartoon and sports lettering, the light end towards friendly signage.
