ST Rome specimen from SteppeType

A modernised roman capital typeface that retains wide-edged pen dynamics while shedding archaism through simplified contrast and more geometric letterforms, available in six weights with expanded Cyrillic and Latin coverage.

About

ST Rome takes the roman capital letter as its starting point, preserving the energy and stroke rhythm of a broad-edged pen whilst removing historical affectations to produce a more versatile tool. Contrast is reduced and the primary structures simplified toward geometry without abandoning the warmth of the calligraphic tradition. The family spans six weights from Thin to Black, covering an expanded Cyrillic and Latin character set, with a variable font included on purchase of the full family.

Classification

Derives from the roman capital letter tradition with wide-edged pen dynamics, but the contrast has been simplified and structures made more geometric, placing it in a modernised humanist serif category.
