A modern serif with five weights and matching italics, drawing on late 19th and early 20th-century book typography with strong Cyrillic support and a variable font option.
About
Designed by Ilya Ruderman and Yury Ostromentsky of CSTM Fonts, Kazimir blends the dynamic stroke rhythm of transitional serifs with narrowed proportions and long extenders for a distinctly contemporary feel. Two stylistic sets – Regular and Irregular – allow the typeface to shift from composed text use to expressive display settings, where its more eccentric alternate characters come into their own. The family includes a variable font offered free with a full family licence and covers a broad range of Latin and Cyrillic languages.
Classification
Kazimir is classified as a modern serif owing to its high stroke contrast and strong vertical axis, while its long extenders and dynamic rhythm draw on transitional serif traditions. The combination of narrowed proportions and two stylistic sets – Regular and Irregular – gives it a contemporary editorial character.
