A single-weight classical roman serif drawn by Paul Harpin in 2017, informed by the brush-drawn traditions that preceded stone-carved Roman lettering.
About
Paul Harpin designed Grace Roman as a personal exercise immediately after completing Laura, his first typeface created for cancer charity fundraising. The typeface takes its name from his niece Laura's middle name and aims for the refined delicacy of pre-lapidary lettering, where brush strokes preceded the chisel. It includes small caps, ligatures, fractions and a broad range of Latin diacritics.
Classification
Grace Roman is a classical Roman serif with brush-drawn origins, reflecting the pre-lapidary tradition of painted letterforms before stone carving. Its refined stroke modulation and upright structure place it firmly in the classical roman tradition.
