FransBake specimen from Stawix Foundry

A sans-serif tribute to Baskerville supporting both Thai and Latin scripts, available in six weights with matching italics and a variable font, released in 2026 by Stawix Ruecha.

About

Designed by imagining Baskerville without its serifs, FransBake was built Thai-first before the Latin was developed outward from that foundation, with both scripts refined until they harmonised. The Thai side marks Stawix Foundry's first serious exploration of a true italic, modelled on the character found in Baskerville's italic cuts. Six weights, matching italics and a variable font make it practical for branding and digital work across both scripts.

Classification

Conceived explicitly as a sans-serif interpretation of Baskerville, FransBake inherits the transitional model's proportions and stroke contrast but strips the serifs entirely, placing it firmly in the transitional sans subcategory.
