A 2024 sans-serif super family built on duplex principles, allowing weight changes without text reflow, named after amateur mathematician Marjorie Rice.

About

Designed by Catalogtree and Bernd Volmer, Marjoree comprises four subfamilies: a proportional duplex family, a monospaced family, and two pattern variable fonts — Marjoree Hex and Marjoree Penta — which blend typography with tessellating geometry drawn from Rice's pentagonal tiling discoveries. The duplex construction keeps character widths consistent across all weights, making it practical for animated web interfaces and multi-page book design where weight changes would otherwise cause reflow. The Hex and Penta variants push the family into decorative territory, offering obscure and inverted variants that invite animation and experimental use.

Classification
