A Gothic
Radim Pesko · Radim Pesko · 2019

A two-weight grotesque with italics covering Latin, Cyrillic and Greek, designed over five years alongside a companion display family that inverts the ink trap concept for headline use.
About
A Gothic comes in Regular and Bold weights with matching italics, covering more than 80 languages across Latin, Cyrillic and Greek scripts. Its companion set, AA Gothic, reverses the conventional ink trap logic – cutting into junctions rather than opening them – making those styles suited to titles, headings and inscriptions. Developed between 2014 and 2019, the pair reflects Pesko's characteristic approach: formally rigorous, with a clear conceptual framework behind each design decision.
Classification
A contemporary grotesque in the American gothic tradition. Spans Latin, Cyrillic and Greek scripts across 80-plus languages. The companion AA Gothic family applies an inverted ink trap principle for display use, cutting into junctions rather than opening them to sharpen character at headline scale.
