sans-serifrational grotesqueitalic
Snaga specimen from Lettersoup

A contemporary rational grotesque from Lettersoup, developed specifically for body copy, with three optical sub-families – Text, Display and Banner – and a variable font axis controlling letterspacing tightness across Latin, Cyrillic and Greek scripts.

About

Where conventional Swiss grotesques suffer from tight spacing and reduced inter-letter distinction at small sizes, Snaga was designed from the outset with more open spacing calibrated to match each letter's inner counter, producing a more even grey value in running text. The three static sub-families – Text, Display and Banner – are complemented by a variable font with an optical size axis for fine-tuned control across mediums. Cyrillic support includes carefully drawn Bulgarian alternates, offered as a Round Cyrillic stylistic set with ascenders and descenders that align more naturally with Latin and Greek.

Classification

A contemporary rational sans serif in the Swiss grotesque tradition, distinguished by more open letterspacing and dynamic letterforms designed to improve readability at small sizes. Classified as rational grotesque due to its geometric, systematic character construction with reduced stroke contrast.
