A rational geometric sans-serif from Jason Vandenberg spanning 12 weights with full italic coverage and support for Latin, Greek and Cyrillic.

About

Abrade is a geometric sans-serif designed by Jason Vandenberg and released through J Foundry in 2015. Its medium x-height and classically rational forms hold up at both display and text sizes, making it useful across corporate identity, editorial and digital product work. The 24-style family runs from Hairline to Ultra Black, each weight paired with a geometric italic, plus variable font versions for both upright and italic axes.

Classification

Rational geometric sans-serif with a medium x-height. Futura-influenced in its geometry but distinctly contemporary in its functional refinements. Italics maintain the geometric register rather than switching to cursive forms, preserving the rational character across the full family.
