A bold square-serif display family from 1990, designed for advertising and poster work, with five width variants including a decorative cameo cut.
About
Designed by Lyubov Kuznetsova for ParaGraph in 1990, Xenia offers a single bold weight across four widths – Condensed, Regular, Extended and Ultra Extended – suited to display and advertising settings. The Cameo Bold variant, added in 1993 by Kuznetsova and Alexander Tarbeev, introduces decorative treatment to the family. The square-serif structure and heavy weight give it a direct, imposing presence on the page.
Classification
Bold square-serif design with display weight only, fitting the slab category. The single-weight family with condensed, extended and cameo variants is characteristic of Soviet-era display type traditions.
