slabEgyptian slab
Traktir specimen from ParaType

A bold display slab from TypeMarket (1993), derived from Elsner+Flake's Old Town, offered in two styles including an inverse Cameo cut.

About

Designed by Alexander Kustov at TypeMarket in 1993, Traktir is based on the Old Town typeface by Elsner+Flake. The specimen reveals heavy rectangular serifs, pronounced ink traps at stroke junctions and a strong, condensed weight suited to poster and headline use. Two styles are available: Book and Cameo, the latter presenting white letterforms on a filled ground.

Classification

The specimen shows heavy rectangular slab serifs with strong ink-trap notches at junctions, bold strokes and a condensed silhouette typical of nineteenth-century wood-type Egyptians. The Cameo style inverts the colour, confirming a display-oriented slab design.
