slabegyptian slab
Luxor specimen from ParaType

A single-weight display slab based on Colin Brignall's Aachen, designed at TypeMarket in 1993 with very heavy strokes and unbracketed serifs suited to poster use.

About

Designed by Alexander Kustov at TypeMarket in 1993, Luxor takes Aachen (1969) as its reference point, retaining the characteristically massive weight and blunt, unbracketed serifs of that face. Only a Regular weight is offered. The specimen confirms an extremely bold colour with minimal internal contrast.

Classification

The specimen shows a heavy slab serif with thick, unbracketed serifs and very high stroke weight throughout – characteristic of the Egyptian/latin display slab tradition, closely based on Aachen (Colin Brignall, 1969).
