A lightweight old-style serif revived by Vladimir Yefimov in 1992 from Nikolai Kudryashev and Zinaida Maslennikova's 1960s Soviet encyclopaedia typeface, offered in four styles.
About
Drawing on Kudryashevskaya Encyclopedicheskaya, produced by Polygraphmash between 1960 and 1974, Petersburg inherits neutral, space-saving letterforms well suited to dense text composition. Its book weight is deliberately light, making it practical for long-form reading in print and on screen. The four-style family covers Book, Italic, Bold and Bold Italic.
Classification
Based on Kudryashevskaya Encyclopedicheskaya, a mid-century Soviet encyclopaedia typeface, Petersburg falls into the old-style serif tradition with neutral letterforms and a lightweight, space-economical construction suited to extended text setting.
