A contemporary old-style serif with calligraphic character, originating from Carl Dair's Cartier typeface and extended to six weights with a Cyrillic version added by Vladimir Yefimov at ParaType in 2001.
About
The design traces its lineage to Carl Dair's Cartier, created for the 1969 Montreal World's Fair, and was adapted and renamed Raleigh by Robert Norton in 1977 after Dair's death. Adrian Williams contributed additional display weights while Norton developed the text versions, resulting in a family suited to both roles. ParaType expanded the typeface into Cyrillic in 2001, broadening its application across Russian and related languages.
Classification
A contemporary old-style serif with calligraphic features, rooted in Carl Dair's Cartier typeface. The calligraphic influence and dynamic stroke modulation place it firmly in the humanist old-style tradition.
