displaydistressed slab
Mistica specimen from ParaType

A single-weight distressed take on ITC American Typewriter, with ragged, torn edges applied to every glyph to produce a decayed, unsettling texture.

About

Designed by Alexey Chekulaev at Double Alex Font Studio in 1996, Mistica takes the monospaced slab-serif structure of ITC American Typewriter and coats every stroke in an irregular, splintered outline. The result reads as typewritten copy subjected to heavy degradation, with jagged contours that break the clean geometry of the source material throughout. Only a single Regular style is available.

Classification

The specimen shows letterforms derived from a slab-serif typewriter face (based on ITC American Typewriter) with heavily distressed, ragged edges applied to each glyph, placing it firmly in the display/decorative category as a distressed slab variant.
