ParaType's adaptation of Paul Renner's landmark 1927 geometric sans, extended to cover Cyrillic script across 28 styles including obliques and condensed cuts.
About
Futura PT builds on Renner's original geometric construction – near-circular bowls, uniform strokes and a single-storey 'a' – while adding Cyrillic support developed at ParaType for Russian-language use. The family spans eight weights from Thin to Black with matching obliques, plus a condensed subfamily, totalling 28 styles. It remains one of the most widely deployed geometric sans-serifs in both Latin and Cyrillic typographic contexts.
Classification
A geometric sans-serif rooted in Paul Renner's original Futura (1927), adapted and extended by ParaType. Its forms are based on near-perfect geometric shapes – circles, triangles and rectangles – with near-uniform stroke width and minimal humanist variation.
