A 1994 geometric slab revival by Alexey Chekulaev, derived from Georg Trump's Berthold City (1930), offered in eight styles from Light to Ultra Black.
About
Designed at Double Alex Font Studio, Coliseum takes its structural cues from Berthold City's squared, unbracketed serifs and even stroke weight. Eight styles span Light through Ultra Black, each with a matching italic. The specimen confirms the rounded stroke terminals that soften the otherwise rigid geometric skeleton.
Classification
The specimen shows uniform stroke weight with squared, bracketed-free slab serifs and geometric construction, consistent with the Berthold City lineage. The rounded corners visible on stems and curves place it in the geometric slab tradition.
