Titla Brus specimen from ParaType

A 20-style slab serif family by Oleg Karpinsky, extending the Titla system with an unconventional approach to serifs that mixes traditional slabs with one-sided variants across normal and condensed widths.

About

Released by ParaType between 2011 and 2013, Titla Brus began as ten condensed styles before gaining ten normal-width companions. Its distinguishing feature is the selective application of serifs: some letterforms carry conventional slab serifs while others use one-sided serifs, producing an atypical silhouette that sets it apart from standard slab designs. Six weights from Light to Ultra make it versatile for display and editorial work, either alongside the original Titla or independently.

Classification

A slab serif family characterised by selective use of asymmetric, one-sided serifs alongside traditional slab serifs, giving it a distinctive display quality suited to headlines and editorial contexts.
