A slab serif family by Ale Grau rooted in wide-serifed display lettering from an 1880 funeral pamphlet, reengineered across six weights for sustained reading in editorial contexts.
About
The design takes its name and its central formal question from a set of letters found in an 1880 Spanish pamphlet, 'Guirnalda fúnebre': how wide can letterforms be whilst still flowing rhythmically through dense text? Available as a variable font with six weights and matching italics, it includes ligatures, stylistic alternates, small caps and ornaments. Intended use is editorial — newspapers, magazines and books.
Classification
Wide-serifed text slab derived from a historical 1880 display source, engineered for long-form reading. Its proportional generosity and slab serifs place it squarely in the slab serif category with a text-optimised orientation.
