Samarqand specimen from NoonFont

A contemporary Arabic and Persian text typeface by Reza Bohlul that reinterprets the Naskh tradition through a near-monoline approach, available in eight weights plus a variable font.

About

Samarqand strips back the classical Naskh structure whilst retaining its characteristic rhythm, achieving a clean and consistent form suited to extended reading on screen. Open shapes, precise weight distribution and well-calculated proportions allow it to perform reliably at small sizes across both desktop and mobile environments. Eight weights from Light to ExtraBlack give it enough range for body text, editorial and interface work alike.

Classification

A contemporary Arabic/Persian script typeface rooted in the Naskh calligraphic tradition but redesigned with a near-monoline stroke approach, open letterforms and controlled curves for screen readability. Classified under serif given Naskh's structural role as the Arabic counterpart to roman text typefaces.
