Noora
NoonFont · Atefeh Mohammadi, Amin Abedi · 2024

A seven-weight Persian and Arabic sans-serif designed for screen legibility at small sizes, originating as a master's thesis project at the University of Tehran.
About
Noora's letterforms prioritise clarity against pixel grids at low resolutions while remaining equally suited to print. The design exaggerates the height of the mid-sections of letters, stretching teeth and enlarging interior counters, with varied angles that give the family a dynamic, contemporary character. Throughout, the designers maintained fidelity to Persian script tradition, avoiding purely geometric construction to preserve the script's inherent identity alongside its modern register.
Classification
A low-contrast Persian and Arabic sans-serif with simple letterforms, designed to balance adherence to Persian script tradition with a modern, clean aesthetic. The humanist classification reflects the conscious effort to avoid full geometricisation while maintaining clarity at small sizes.
